Taira Takada (平高田) – Koto Period
Taira Takada refers to a group of Japanese swordsmiths active in Bungo Province (present-day Oita Prefecture), primarily during the Muromachi period (1336–1573).
The school belongs to the Koto (Old Sword) tradition and is distinguished from the later Fujiwara Takada school of the Edo period.
Taira Takada swords are known for their durability and practical construction, often showing influences from the Yamato and Mino traditions.
Today, these swords are valued for their historical significance and craftsmanship, representing the swordmaking traditions of medieval Japan.
