Artist : Keiten Takahashi 高橋敬典 (Living National Treasure)
Born in Yamagata City in 1920.
He was first selected for the Nitten exhibition in 1951, and has been selected
seven times ever since. His elegant works, with their innovative shapes and
ingenious use of the base and patterns, have been highly praised, and he has won
numerous awards. In 1961, he created a kettle for Emperor Showa, and in 1979,
he created a kettle for the Crown Prince.
In 1992, he was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Fourth Class.
In 1996, he was recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Property and a Living National Treasure.
Passed away at the age of 89 (June 23, 2009)
