Authentic Edo Period Japanese Samurai Armor – Nimai Do Gusoku with Suji Kabuto
An impressive set of authentic Japanese samurai armor dating from the Edo period (1603–1868).
The armor features a Nimai Do (two-piece cuirass) constructed from horizontal iron plates, finished in dark brownish-black lacquer and laced with navy blue cords.
One of the most striking features is the iron Menpo (face mask), with a fierce expression, a wide-open mouth, and a natural hair mustache. The upper lip is separately crafted, adding depth and character to its distinctive facial expression.
The armor shows signs of age, including surface wear, rust, and deterioration of some lacing and fabric, reflecting its long history.
Please note: The cords of the Haidate (thigh guards) have become fragile and may break easily. Please handle them with care.
A remarkable example of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and an impressive display piece for collectors of samurai antiques.
