Sato Seiji 佐藤 静司 1915-2021
Born in 1915 in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture.
1931, he studied under wood sculptor Miki Sosaku.
1936, his work "Otter" was selected for the first time at the first reorganized
Teiten Exhibition.
1939, he created "Jikokuten" for Myoho-ji Temple in Koriyama City.
1940, he became a member of the Orthodox Woodcarvers Association.
1945, Miki Sosaku passed away.
1947, he studied under sculptor Sawada Masahiro.
1965, he became a member of the Nitten Exhibition.
1978, he won the Minister of Education Award at the 10th Nitten Exhibition.
1981, he created "Four Heavenly Kings" for Oyamadai Denjo-ji Temple.
1991, he received the Fukushima Prefectural Governor's Award for
Meritorious Service Living Outside the Prefecture.
1995, he created "Shaka Nyorai" for Oyamadai Fujoji Temple.
1997, he was awarded the Fourth Class Order of the Sacred Treasure.
2007, he held the "Sato Seiji Sculpture Exhibition" at Koriyama City Museum of Art,
and in 2011, he held a solo exhibition at Senshin Museum of Art.
He passed away in 2021.
There are damages , scratches and stains.
